Hello folks,
I just came across this tune today, and I heard of it several times, but man, I just want to learn it! I love this tune, and I would really like a challenge!
I've looked here in the archive, and no one has a PDF arrangement of "Crazy Creek". If someone could send me a PDF version or a PDF scan to me, I would appreciate it very much, and thank you for the generosity of sharing a PDF copy!
Thank you very much,
~Craig

Hi Fred,
Let me give you a better copy since your PDf came directly from my website and Juan Teruel and I both did that tab years ago...Jack p.s. a mention of where you got your PDF from is always nice

Very cool of you guys to post this great tune. Awesome! I would note that the following measures appear to be incorrect, however. Measures 7, 15, 17, 29. This is a staple song in my playing experience, and I have spent years playing it on and off stage, but those sections don't appear to be correct. I do appreciate your kindness in sharing it, however. If I can get to it, I will try to get a PDF example of what I mean. Take care.

Hi Westvon,
Thank you so much for the heads up. I haven't looked at that tab since I learned how to use Tabledit in 1998. I made a few corrections and there are a few measure finger positions that you may be talking about.
I've made some corrections but Juan also included Tony Rice's guitar break in his tab so the PDF may seem a bit weird when Juan is just doing backup to Tony Rice's guitar lead. Also, some of Juan's backup is incorrect and I'll get to that later.
But here is a corrected PDF. Tell me if this suits you better...Thanks again Westvon as you make this site better and as always, I enjoy being corrected when needed. If you see any more errors, then by all means, post them. ...Jack Baker

Hey there Jack:
The only thing I would add/correct can be found on the 7th and 17th measures. I think it's easier to play the 10th fretted note you have on the fifth string, on the 10th fret of the first string where you already have it fretted. I have another suggestion to send after I run a couple of errands. They cover measures 28 - 30. good stuff and good corrections, BTW

Hi David,
Thanks for the help but I remember seeing Bill play this at the Eagle Tavern and other venues many years ago and I think he preferred to play the 5th string notes in those particular measures to keep the flow...I could be wrong but you should check with Bill with regards to the measures you've suggested...Thanks a lot for offering to help...Jack p.s. my memory could be failing me of course and I'll change it if you're sure David.

Hi David,
I still personally think that Bill Keith is the most commanding inventive player since Earl brought his genius to the banjo. He (Bill), still plays with so much authority and tone...be well...Jack

: ) Naaa, it all boils down to whatever floats your boat as far as finger positions go. Keith once told me that there are a multiplicity of ways to play any number of licks, etc. I was merely offering my experience to suggest that there might be an easier way to finger the notes. You are an awesome player anyway my man.

Hi David,
I've seen your work as brought to me by some students; it's really well thought out and clear and accurate....yeah Bill, plays with different fingerings at different times in performance it seems. I guess we all do. Thanks for the great tips though as they were really helpful...Jack

Thanks Jack, I appreciate the kind words, BTW, which works of mine have you seen? Have your students brought you things from BNL, or from my Hot Banjo Licks CD series? Just curious. Keep up the great work, and playing man.

I agree with you about Keith, and his tone, and abilities. He played a significant role in my development as a banjo player, and especially as it still influences what I play professionally. I still think Alan Munde is my over all favorite melodic player, however.

Alan is a great player. He gave a workshop in Brooklyn NY last year and was great. I wasn't there but heard about him...Jack

Jack, here is the link to my Hot banjo Licks Site. I am making plans to put them into DVD format soon. I would like to take, let's say, four or five tunes, and show where to put the various licks into the tunes. Sort of show how to spice up songs here and there, yet also show how to construct your own.
